A sourced guide to the private dental practice on Broad Street, covering published fees, its team, access and the details to clarify before booking.
By Dental Teeth Whitening Dentist editorial desk · Checked 22 October 2026
Research-based; no first-hand visit or clinical audit. Unpaid listing; no referral commission arranged.
Reading Smiles offers a broad published treatment menu and a detailed fee guide. Those make it easier to prepare for a consultation. Before committing, clarify the complete treatment quote, finance provider, clinician and first-floor access. We have not rated the clinical quality or awarded a star score.

Treatments, products and technology
The published menu spans general dentistry, hygiene, emergency care, whitening, composite bonding, veneers, crowns, bridges, implants, root canal care, sedation and orthodontics. Branded options include Invisalign, with Vivera retainers in advertised packages; the price guide names ZOOM whitening. [2]
These are treatment systems and services, not a catalogue of retail products available to buy without assessment. Ask which exact brand, material and laboratory will be used in your plan. We have not confirmed implant-system brands, crown materials, gel formulation or current stock.
The practice advertises digital CT scanning and digital impressions. Those are published facility claims rather than a guarantee of a better outcome for an individual patient. [6]
Published dental prices
Examples from the practice’s price guide, checked 22 October 2026. “From” fees are starting points, not personalised quotations. [2]
| Treatment | Published fee |
|---|---|
| Dental examination, including X-rays | £55 |
| Child examination, under 16, including X-rays | £35 |
| Emergency appointment; inclusions as listed by practice | £87 |
| Hygiene, 30 minutes | £74 |
| Hygiene with Airflow, 30 minutes | £94 |
| White filling | From £135 |
| Extraction | From £179 |
| Home whitening | £375 |
| In-clinic whitening, listed as laser whitening | £595 |
| Combination whitening | £695 |
| Invisalign Express | From £1,495 |
| Invisalign Lite | From £2,400 |
| Invisalign Comprehensive | From £3,300 |
| Composite bonding | From £279/tooth, based on eight teeth |
| Veneer or crown | From £849 |
| Implant crown, separate from implant placement | From £1,300 |
| Root canal treatment | From £795 |
The price guide lists implant placement separately from the crown, and shows a small £1 difference between two placement entries (£1,494 and £1,495). Do not interpret the placement headline as a complete restored-tooth price. Request one itemised total. [2]
Cosmetic consultations are advertised as complimentary with a £25 deposit, refundable on attendance. The contact page requires 48 hours’ notice for cancellation to preserve that refund. [1]
Finance offering: what is published?
The finance page advertises 0% options up to 24 months and an optional deposit up to 50%. These are published possibilities, not a promise that any applicant or treatment qualifies. [3]
The homepage also references Snap Finance plans from 18 months, while the finance page and footer refer to Medenta/V12 and Chrysalis. The provider references are not consistent across the site. Ask the practice to identify the actual lender and broker for your quotation and provide the applicable APR, deposit, repayment term, total repayable and eligibility conditions in writing. [3] [6]
The FCA Register search record identifies Nathwani Dental Ltd under reference 749067 and says it is authorised for specific activities. Registration is not an endorsement of a particular loan or dental outcome. [7]
Check the cash price against the total repayable, including any interest or fees. Our directory does not arrange credit, assess eligibility or recommend borrowing.
Dentists and experience
Selected clinicians and qualifications as published by the practice. Roles and GDC numbers below are practice-supplied details; individual specialist-list status and current registration were not independently checked. [5]

For a planned procedure, ask who will actually provide each stage, their relevant case experience and who handles follow-up or complications. A team biography does not confirm that the named clinician works every day at this location.
See the complete practice team directory and confirm registration through the GDC register.
Awards, recognition and experience claims
- 2016 Best New UK Dental Practice: the practice’s Statement of Purpose says it won this Private Dentistry Awards title. We located the practice’s own claim, not an independently checked organiser’s award archive. [9]
- Invisalign status: the homepage describes Diamond Apex status. Treat this as a practice-published provider recognition claim, not a regulator’s clinical quality rating. [6]
- Individual recognition: Hanel Nathwani’s biography mentions a 2014 fellowship and television work. Ajay Mehta’s biography reports Private Dentistry Awards recognition; the category and year are not specified there. [5]
We have not converted awards, provider tiers or media appearances into an editorial score or a claim that this practice is the best in Reading.
Practice size, facilities and accessibility
Our count of the team page’s roster is 20 named dentists, two hygiene/therapy clinicians and three management staff. This is a website roster count, not a verified local employee total or full-time-equivalent figure. [5]
The CQC’s 2017 inspection described four treatment rooms and a smaller team at that time. The present number of rooms, floor area, patient list size and staffing per session are not confirmed. Do not treat the historic room count as a current facility specification. [4]
The practice’s Statement of Purpose says the first-floor premises have no lift. As the document is not a current accessibility audit, confirm present step-free access, mobility assistance and accessible alternatives before travelling. It also describes nearby shopping-centre parking and public transport links. [9]
What do patients say?
The practice website displays 4.9/5 based on 2,468 reviews and links to Google. We have not independently checked the live Google count or audited all those reviews; this is a practice-displayed snapshot, not our rating. [6]
The testimonials displayed on its site emphasise reassuring explanations, friendly staff and Invisalign support. Some discuss treatment cost: one describes care as expensive but worthwhile; another reports favourable value. These selected, practice-hosted comments are not a representative survey and do not establish clinical outcomes. We have not reproduced private patient health details. [6]
CQC registration and inspection
The CQC lists Reading Smiles under Dr Hanel Suresh Nathwani. The visible report was published on 1 June 2017 following an inspection on 6 April 2017. Its overview shows “No action” for the five assessed areas. This is a historic regulatory record, not a current visit by us or a CQC star rating. [4]
The inspection praised several systems while recommending improvements to recruitment records, support for hearing difficulties and emergency medicine/equipment arrangements. We have not established the present status of those historic recommendations. Read the full report in context. [4]
Our verdict and booking checklist
Worth considering for comparison if you want a private town-centre practice with a broad published menu. The detailed prices help with initial planning, but access, the full treatment scope and finance terms need individual confirmation.
- Ask for a written diagnosis, alternatives and itemised quotation.
- Confirm the dentist, appointment schedule and aftercare arrangements.
- Clarify which components are included, especially for implants and aligners.
- Check the deposit, cancellation rules and accessibility before booking.
- If considering finance, ask for the exact provider and complete agreement details.
